Mission

In 1884, the founders of Congregation Shearith Israel  dreamt of a community to support Jewish life in Dallas, Texas. As they built their dream, they also looked to the future to build a community – a Jewish congregational home – for generations to come.

Today, our thriving congregation continues to look toward the future through endowments to insure the synagogue’s financial future. Our ever-growing Foundation allows Shearith to continue its history of supporting the Jewish way of life for its congregation and families, now and in the future.

The Foundation was formally established as an independently operated legal 501(c) (3) entity in 2006. It is run by a separate Board of Trustees to efficiently and prudently manage Endowment funds. Our goal is to increase the currently funded part of the Foundation, as well as legacy bequests, to ensure a flow of financial support for Shearith Israel in perpetuity by providing a consistent, predictable, and growing stream of annual financial support to Congregation Shearith Israel.
